Spring blossom in Holland

Updated: Mar 19, 2024

As the crisp air of spring fills the atmosphere and nature begins to awaken from its winter slumber, there's no better time to immerse oneself in the beauty of the outdoors. For me it's a season of inspiration, where every bloom and every budding tree becomes a muse waiting to be captured on canvas. And what better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than through plein-air painting in the heart of the Netherlands? The Dutch country and small towns look majestic in the spring.

People adore blossoming trees and you can see in their gardens a lot of magnolias with its huge flowers, also known as tulip tree, cherry trees of the different kinds and blossoming in the different time all the spring and many other blossoming trees and bushed which names I even don't know.

In the Netherlands, spring arrives in a riot of colors, with magnolia and cherry blossoms adorning parks and gardens across the country. Their delicate petals and vibrant hues create a picturesque scene that beckons me to capture their beauty. There's no shortage of inspiration for plein air artist seeking to capture the essence of spring.

Plein air painting, or painting outdoors, offers artist a unique opportunity to connect with nature and observe its ever-changing beauty up close. It's a chance to study the interplay of light and shadow, to capture the subtle nuances of color, and to breathe life into each brushstroke. And in the Netherlands, where the landscape is as diverse as it is enchanting, plein air painting becomes an immersive experience that allows artists to become one with their surroundings.

I am also joined to the community of the magnolia owners and planted this beautiful tree in my tiny garden several years ago. I am happy that this year it bursted into bloom and finally I can make plein air session in my own garden!
