My recent plein air adventure! Finally, the Netherlands graced us with a bit more sun and a tad less rain. It was the perfect opportunity for those eagerly waiting for a rain-free day to venture outside and paint. Regrettably, I wasn't prepared for it and missed the chance. After such a long wait, the clouds decided to gather again, not necessarily bringing rain but certainly withholding the sun.
Feeling a need to break this cycle, the crocuses in full bloom became my inspiration. Even though the weather might not be as summery as one would hope at this time of the year, the blooming crocuses signaled that waiting any longer wasn't an option—it was time to seize the
moment.

These vibrant purple flowers have painted the landscapes of the Netherlands where I reside. Choosing a nearby spot, a quaint recreation area by a pond with old trees providing a natural frame, I began to paint. Despite the lack of bright sunlight today, the slightly somber atmosphere added an intriguing layer to the scene.

The delicate crocuses, on the verge of full bloom, were a sight to behold, releasing their vivid yellow pistils. Capturing their subtle beauty on canvas, I found joy in creating this small painting—a promising start to the plein air painting season!

I'm glad that I finally got out of the house and resumed my outdoor work, breathing in spring into my lungs and transferring it onto canvases. The opening of the season can be considered a success, and soon you will see new pieces, new impressions, and I would like to share my feelings with you along with them.

he last crocuses are in full bloom now, and I've already switched to daffodils! Along the pond near the old Naarden fortress, which has now been transformed into a beautiful park, bright yellow daffodils have burst into bloom, heralding the arrival of spring. These are some of the earliest and most vibrant spring flowers.

Gradually, the first cherry blossoms are starting to open, or maybe they're some kind of small plums—very tiny, modest, yet so vividly pink. They bloom so early, when all the other trees are still bare, and against the backdrop of those dark winter-brown branches, their flowering is so vivid that they look like little lanterns in the sunlight.
