At long last, spring has arrived in Holland! I'm thrilled about the blossoming landscape because spring is undeniably the most beautiful time of year here. Dutch people are renowned for their gardening skills, cultivating entire fields of flowers!
Currently, it's the season of tulips, but there's more than just that!

Tulips are grown in many provinces in the Netherlands, but for me, the closest one is the artificial island of Flevoland. This island was reclaimed from the sea entirely. Waves used to roll here not so long ago, just 30 years ago. And now it's slowly being developed and cultivated into fields.

I try to use either public transportation or my bicycle. Just one hour on my electric bike, and I'm amidst the tulip fields. Of course, there are no old farmhouse with thatched roofs like in traditional regions, but here you can feel the spirit of modern and high-tech Netherlands. Automatic irrigation, windmills create an image of some kind of future world.

I packed my easel and happily painted tulips fading into the distance. The pink sea of flowers impresses with its infinity. It's such a local miracle that every year residents of the Netherlands come to admire.
