In March 2023, I embarked on an art journey to Lake Como from Milan. This breathtaking lake, encircled by majestic mountains, is a sight worthy of capturing on canvas. As someone who often paints outdoors, I couldn't miss the opportunity to create some sketches of this stunning and inspiring landscape.

Lecco, a charming little city I reached by train from Milan, was delightfully uncrowded during this time of year. It was my first visit, and if you've been here before, I'd love to hear about your experience in the comments.
I found March to be an ideal month to explore Lake Como if you prefer to avoid the crowds. Unfortunately, the ship connections to famous destinations like Bellagio and other attractions weren't operational at that time. However, since I had an intention to paint, I wasn't disappointed, as the tranquil atmosphere was perfect for my creative endeavors.
The city maintains its everyday rhythm, going about its normal life. I decided to capture this essence with a watercolor sketch while sitting on the embankment. The gentle rays of the sun, though not as warm during this time in Holland, cast a soft and beautiful light upon my scene.
The city boasts a truly lovely lakeside promenade, complemented by a stunning park that runs alongside it. What makes it even better is that the shoreline remains unspoiled by any roads, providing a dedicated area for recreation. Many people come here for jogging and leisurely walks, and I've happily joined their ranks.
I came across another beautiful view of the lake and couldn't resist sketching it. The slightly cloudy weather added a touch of foggy and romantic ambiance to the scene, making it even more captivating.
The evening light filtering through the clouds creates a stunning spectacle, casting a beautiful glow over both the sky and the water.
